Performing Arts

Performing Arts provides an opportunity for children to interact with each other as well as build confidence and self esteem. The Performing Arts play a hugely significant role in assisting children to develop their creative skills.

While Performing Arts allows children to develop creative passions, such as singing, acting and playing a musical instrument, they simultaneously teach children language and communication skills, assisting them to communicate effectively with others.

The Performing Arts program at St. Peter Chanel School includes Movement (dance and choreography), Drama (public speaking, speaking clearly and loudly, making eye contact improvisation, script work, character building) and Music (music notation, an understanding of beats and rhythms, singing).

St. Peter Chanel also offers two Glee Clubs (choirs):

• Junior Glee (years 3 and 4)
• Senior Glee (years 5 and 6)  ~  The Senior Glee Club have the opportunity to perform at local Aged Care Facilities during the year

Additional school events include:

• Fully staged scripted School Musical (Foundation – Year 6) at an external professional theatre
• Carols By Candlelight Event (Foundation – Year 6) held at St. Peter Chanel and supported by a professional staging, lighting and sound company
