Any school can teach a curriculum. Amazing schools like ours is full of teachers actively and passionately exploring the possibilities of making their teaching practice more innovative, engaging and fun at every turn. This is the single ingredient that drives the most growth in our students.

Religious Education

As educators and believers in Christ we facilitate the spreading of the Good News. At St Peter Chanel we teach Religious Education in order to give the students the understandings of the Catholic Church. Together with this we encourage the students to develop a personal relationship with God, so they able to strive to live their own lives in the light of Jesus example.

Student Wellbeing

Student wellbeing is fundamental to successful learning. At St Peter Chanel School we recognise that students are more likely to engage fully with their learning when their social, emotional, spiritual and physical wellbeing is healthy and when they possess a strong sense of worth.

Literacy

At St. Peter Chanel our Literacy program is based on giving the students the opportunity to speak, listen, read, view and write effectively with confidence, purpose and enjoyment.

Mathematics

At St. Peter Chanel, students engage in problem solving through investigating, modelling, reasoning, and visualising. A strong focus is placed on the development of mental computation strategies in all number concepts to support flexible and efficient mathematical thinking.

Physical Education

The Health and Physical Education component of our curriculum provides a foundation for developing active members of society.

Performing Arts

Performing Arts provides an opportunity for children to interact with each other as well as build confidence and self esteem. The Performing Arts play a hugely significant role in assisting children to develop their creative skills.

Science

Students from Prep to Year 6 receive weekly hands-on science sessions to assist them to better understand the world around them.  The students focus on Physical or Chemical Science.

Languages (Japanese)

All students at St. Peter Chanel Primary School learn Japanese as a language other than English (LOTE) with a specialist Japanese teacher. The program helps students learn the language by developing their communication skills, expanding their intercultural awareness, appreciation and understanding.

Digital Technologies

At St Peter Chanel School, we believe that Digital Technologies is an integral part of everyday life. To cater for the development of children’s needs in this technological society, we aim to provide various programs, facilities and technological experiences that expose our students to the technology of today and recognise its importance for student learning.

Visual Arts

The Visual Arts program is designed to nurture individual expression and creativity, and develop an understanding of the elements and principles of Art.

Outdoor Education

Outdoor experiences provide opportunities to develop positive relationships with the environment, others and ourselves through interaction with the world.  These relationships are essential for the wellbeing and sustainability of individuals, society and our environment.
